When?

Thursday 17th August 11.30-1.30pm: (Parents & Babies on backs session) Mindful Summer forage & wild plant learning

What to expect?

In collaboration with the joyous Plant Listening & Tamara Colchester this summer's foraging walk is an invitation to explore the magnificent trees and parkland of Hampstead Heath. Walking as a group in the ancient way of the hunter-gatherer we will seek out the many wild plants that appear at this time of year.

Some of the special herbs, seeds and trees we will learn encounter are the soothing Rosebay Willowherb, wise Elder, Rose, Hawthorn, Bramble, invigorating Nettle seed and immune-boosting Birch Polypore along with any of the other healing (and poisonous!) mushrooms and plants that we find in our path.

A gentle 2 hour exploration, packed full of ethnobotanical tales, we will finish up with a wild picnic in a secret glade as we go over the plants learnt and how best to prepare them for winter. All participants will also receive a pdf containing information about all the plants met, along with recipes and storage methods.

Meet our host!

Plant Listening (Tamara Colchester) is a wild food teacher and writer who guides people in the old ways of foraging as a route to a simpler, more connected way of life. Trained by renowned wild food teacher and author Ffyona Campbell, she now travels the UK reintroducing people to our wild heritage. Incorporating her interest in psychotherapy and healing (she trained at Tavistock & Portman), she specialises in using foraging and tracking techniques as a means of helping those suffering from PTSD, Depression and Anxiety, as well as those who are simply interested in deepening their relationship with their environment and the food we eat. @plantlistening

"A brilliant way to spend a Sunday morning, who would have thought foraging could be such fun!" Nicholas
